Jewel of the Month
Andrea Acosta is La Joya West Academy High School’s Jewel of the Month. The Jewel of the Month Program recognizes one student every month from each of the 43 school who model La Joya ISD’s quality education. Andrea is the oldest in the family and the first to attend college. She is an A&B Honor Roll student who works diligently in achieving anything she sets her mind to.
Andrea is currently enrolled in the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Program in hopes of receiving a certification as a Nurse’s Assistant. Later, she intends on enrolling at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse.
In addition, Andrea is a remarkable student who exemplifies the spirit of West Academy High School. This school year, Andrea was selected to serve as a representative of her campus to participate in the Superintendent’s Roundtable. Andrea collaborated with fellow peers to provide input directly to the Superintendent regarding issues affecting LJISD students.
Furthermore, Andrea has been a student-athletic trainer at La Joya High School for two consecutive years. She actively treats and takes care of athletic injuries while providing first aid under the guidance and supervision of the certified athletic trainer. Her duties also include performing designated functions necessary to provide a smooth operational sports medicine program.
Because of Andrea’s strong drive to succeed, the teachers and staff at La Joya West Academy High School congratulate her on this being La Joya ISD’s Jewel of the Month.
